As a member of Gen-Z living in New York City, it is pretty predictable that I put a lot of thought into my environmental impact. In honor of Earth Day 2021, I want to share a few low-waste Amazon products that has helped me live as earth-friendly as possible.
Cleancult is by far my favorite zero-waste option for household cleaning supplies. I currently own the dryer balls and the dish washing liquid along with their pump and I plan on never turning back. Since I have purchased, they have added to their scents, such as Blue Sage and Sweet Honeysuckle.
2. Reusable Straws
While this may be the most popular way to cut down a bit of your waste, it is still an important one - and it's easy and inexpensive! There are two options that you should consider to make reusable straws work for you.
My first recommendation is this set of glass straws that come with both bent and straight options. I have tried time and time again with metal straws, but there is something about not being able to see what's going on inside the straw that doesn't sit right with me. These glass straws let you make sure all the dried smoothie bits are indeed washed out - and this set comes with a cleaner!
My second recommendation when it comes to reusable straws is this set of silicone straws that can be easily thrown into your bag so you're never caught without a straw. This straw tip, in my opinion, is the most important if you want to cut back on your plastic straw use. You typically won't want to carry around a long, awkward straw in your bag, so this option is much more practical.
3. Compostable Trash Bags
This list is all about practicality, and while it would be great to be able to recycle or reuse all my waste, it just isn't practical for a college student on a budget. Instead, I opt to recycle as much as possible (even to the extent where I ACTUALLY empty my K-Cups in order to make them recyclable) and whatever waste I absolutely need to throw in the trash, I will throw it in one of these compostable trash bags . Using compostable trash bags ensures that your waste isn't trapped in a layer of plastic which would keep food scraps, paper, etc. from biodegrading.
Thank you so much for reading this far! on a daily basis to improve my environmental impact. Comment down below any low-waste products and tips you use. I always love getting new ideas to go green!
